Fifty years ago, oceanic white-tips could be seen in their 100's. Today, 'two is a crowd'. White-tips are in steep decline. The shark fin trade and longline commercial fishing have decimated their population. In 2013 and 2018 steps were taken to protect them. However, their slow reproductive rates bring their recovery into question.
